Easter to me is a time of renewal. It is about the resurrection. Life from death. The JW Memorial is about death and rejection. The JWs commemorate the rejection of Jesus by rejecting the "emblems" as they call them.

Its the memorial, NOT EASTER!
by Joliette inmy mom says dont say happy easter cause she is not a part of babylon the great...i said 'happy easter' to my brother as a joke and my brother goes back and tells my mom like were little kids (i'm 29 and he's 27 with a new baby by the way) and my mom writes me a lengthy email about how i shouldnt joke about babylon the great.
i am 29 years old, 29. and i can't joke around.
i know all j-dubs arent like this, but a lot of them are just like my mom.

How Will the Society React to the Hundred Year Anniversary of 1914?
by slimboyfat init's only a couple of years away now and what a headache it must present to the gb - providing they have given it much thought already.
there probably is no elegant way of presenting the hundred year long failure of the end to come; the fact that the "short period of time" of satan being cast down to the earth has now stretched beyond any credibility.
but they have to deal with it one way or another.

I see some good ideas here that they could run with. A few will wake up but the brainwashed masses will just go along with whatever they say whether they say something or just ignore the issue.
Maybe they could use their one day equal 1000 years creative day theory. They could claim that the 100 years that have passed since 1914 are only one 10th of a 24 hour day in God's eye so it has only been about 2 1/2 hours since 1914. Barely enough time for Jesus to get a cup of coffee and grab a dougnut before begining work.

Interview with former Watchtower P.R. man Robert Jankowski
by Dogpatch inlast week i took a trip down to santa ana, ca.
and met robert jankowski, a name i heard very often at bethel in the late 70s.
robert was one of the voices of many watchtower drama characters in the 70s, along with tom cabeen, who he often worked with.. in addition, the watchtower was allowed a slot on local radio stations every sunday (allowed by law free of charge to churches then) , which he provided to the radio stations in cassette form in advance.

anyone regret sending a diss letter or regret what they put in it.
by serein inwhen i sent my diss letter to my cong i was real fedup at the time with them calling on me every five mins,.
they never ever gave me any space to think i felt rushed into it,.
as i figured the only way i could get them off my back was to say never come to my door ever again and take my adress of the call list,.

No, not at all. If friendship with them is based on pretending to be someone I'm not then it isn't worth it to me. Life is too short to spend it living a lie.
And by the way serein, they really aren't your friends if they won't accept you as you are.

I can't even tell you how happy I am to realize that I had no idea it was Memorial day until just now.
My wife told me she had a meeting tonight. When I asked for what she said for the memorial. Even though tomorrow is Good Friday and Sunday Easter I didn't relate it to any JW BS. I'm also happy about that Poopsiecakes.

how exactly does god communicate w/ the gb?
by mP injust wondering has there ever been a definitive article responding to this or a similar q ?.
-

The last communication was well over a hundred years ago and it was: "YOU MORONS ARE ON YOUR OWN!"
Maybe they read stool samples. That would explain a few things.

Anybody here vegan?
by Dagney ini've been considering it for awhile strictly for just general overall health.
i don't take any meds, and would like to keep it that way for as long as i can.
i am a "all things in moderation " type of person but the more i read about excluding dairy and meat, the more i think about doing it.

Hi Dagney, I thought I drop in and look at the thread you mentioned today. Like I said the change has been easy for me. I'm never hungry. I eat whatever I want when I want and as much as I want and I losing weight and have more energy. I like cooking so it has been fun finding new things to make.
I'll email you or call you as soon as I get a chance either tomorrow or Thursday. In the mean time here are a couple of good sites:

Same old crap they were worried about when I left about 30 years ago. We're all going to die of old age before anything the Watchtower has predicted ever comes true.
But for your entertainment....the Apocalypse:
